Japanese soldiers were so puzzled by the "Kilroy Was Here" graffiti on a blown up truck at Guadalcanal that they reported the art to their senior officers.
Hitler thought Kilroy was some kind of super soldier or spy and ordered his men to track down the sneaky American.
"Kilroy" was everywhere. From the bombed-out ruins of WWII Europe to the makeshift field latrines of Vietnam and everything in between. Rumor has it that American troops made it a competition to inscribe the image on the most obscure places. The harder to reach, the better.
"Kilroy" has even been rumored to show up at:
- The Arc de Triomphe in Paris
- Mount Everest
- The Statute of Liberty
- The surface of the Moon
- The Great Wall of China
Keep the Kilroy mystery alive with this flag from your favorite brand and you'll be sure to start up a conversation with your neighbors. Probably about HOA rules, but the battle-hardened old-timer down the street will get a chuckle.
