In 1912, former President Theodore Roosevelt was nominated for the US presidency by the Progressive Party, also known as the Bull Moose Party, a group of Republicans dissatisfied with the renomination of President William H. Taft.
On October 12, 1912, minutes before delivering a campaign speech in Wisconsin, Roosevelt was shot at close range by William Schrenk. Teddy, being the former “Rough Rider” that he was, took the bullet and went on to deliver his speech, declaring, “You see, it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose!”
Teddy didn’t win that year; in fact, he collapsed moments later and was rushed to a hospital where he then recovered.
Still, this is another remarkable story of Teddy’s toughness and determination.
Let Teddy’s spirit live through you with this Bull Moose hat. After all, just like Teddy, you have what it takes, Rough Rider.
